Well, it's a great season and I think that we all look forward to the tradition of Christmas. I wonder, though, where some of the simpler traditions have gone. As anyone else in the business of selling, I would like to have my product popular during the holiday.

Ah, but alas, the need for a fruit tree has lost its appeal in this modern time. Maybe it's because we have lost touch with what Real Gifts are: the gifts of personal creation or the natural gifts around us.

So much of Christmas Past was a celebration of the gifts of nature. These gifts of life sustain our very being. It's a time to celebrate hard work and the human spirit. A time to celebrate the bounty that results from this hard work and spirit. A time to be grateful for heavens gift of life.

Well, as I was saying, it's a great season.
But it needs a touch of the past to bring back some of the warm expressions of tradition.
I'll share some ideas on how fruit can help rekindle the warmth of Christmas.

First, let me point out that some people who have everything would love a box of home-made Persimmon cookies.

A 4-in-1 planting of Apples in the yard would yield about 5 boxes of assorted Apples to go to some lucky loved one. Not to mention the fresh Apple Pie it would contribute to the grandparents on Christmas day. Don't let me forget the candied apples that kids love so much: I'm sure there's some lost tradition there...

Plum jams and jellies can be made all season long to go into a special basket for a best friend or two.

Oh, man!
Pomegranate jelly or mulberry jam...
Too Good!

And oh those dried Peaches, Nectarines and Apricots!
So simple, So good.
Do you have any idea how much fruit you can dry with just a small home dehydrator?
Enough for lots of Christmas presents!

You know, I have a customer who dehydrates apricots and then dips them in chocolate.
Then he brings them to the folks he works with.
Top That!!

Did you realize that you can make a wonderful fruit wine out of just about any fruit?
I'm told by some very good wine making folk that the Pluots make some of the best wine.
Now that's a gift!

Oh...Grapes still work as well...

And if all this suits you well, but you wonder how can you get on the receiving end of these gifts, consider that fruit trees make wonderful Christmas gifts. Make it a gift certificate though, so your next Christmas gift treats will be a surprise.

Well, there it is...a few ideas on how to enjoy a group of fruit trees in your backyard for Christmas. And maybe bring back some Christmas Tradition.
