White-Fleshed Peaches
Tree fruit varieties offered by Dave Wilson Nursery are selected for their firmness, good shipping characteristics and desirable flesh quality. Approximate ripening dates (for the Fresno, California area), chilling requirements and patent information are listed for each variety along with any special traits.
Galaxy
The Galaxy peach is a peento (saucer-shaped) freestone peach with white flesh and a sweet, low acid flavor. Galaxy ripens in mid-to-late June, and is larger, firmer and more attractive than the Stark Saturn variety which ripens at the same time. This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 500 to 600 hours.
Glacier
The Glacier peach is so named not only for its firm, white flesh, but also for its remarkable size that typically ranges from 3-1/4" to 3-3/4”. This freestone peach ripens in the last two weeks of July and holds firm on the tree for up to 10 days. Glacier offers a sweet, sub-acid flavor and attractive, bright red blush over white skin color. Klondike
In our own fruit evaluations at Dave Wilson Nursery, the Klondike white-fleshed peach receives high ratings in every category. This firm, freestone peach provides a memorable low-acid flavor, very large size (size: 2-7/8" to 3-1/2") and high color (85% light red blush over white). Klondike ripens from the 4th week of June into early July. This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 700 to 800 hours. (U.S. Plant Patent #10872)
Sauzee Queen
Sauzee Queen is a peento (saucer-shaped) freestone peach with white flesh that matures in mid-May. Like all our Zee Sweet peaches, Sauzee Queen offers a desirable, low-acid flavor. Sauzee Queen is a medium-sized peach (2 5/8” to 2 3/4”) with a nice skin color (50% red blush). This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 500 to 600 hours.(U.S. Plant Patent #16179 )
September Snow
September Snow is a low-acid freestone peach with white flesh that ripens from the last week of August into early September. This unusually late peach variety demonstrates good shipping qualities, but may be subject to some pre-harvest-drop. The September Snow peach features large size (2-7/8" to 3-1/2") and high skin color (75% to 80% red blush over white). This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 900 to 1000 hours.. Sierra Snow
Beautiful deep red skin color offsets the shimmering white flesh of the Sierra Snow peach. This clingstone peach ripens in the 3rd to 4th week of June and produces very large, firm fruit (3" to 3-1/4"). The sweet flavor of Sierra Snow may by more astringent when girdled. This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 700 to 800 hours. (U.S. Plant Patent #13527 )
Snow Angel
Eating a peach on April 30th is exciting, but even more so when the peach is a firm, white-fleshed Snow Angel. In the warm regions of Reedley, California, Snow Angel ripens as early as April 27th. This clingstone yields good size (2-3/8’ – 2-7/8”), high color, and a balanced, lightly acidic flavor. Moderate cropping may occur in some years, but the Snow Angel resists cracking and splitting. This peach has a low winter chilling requirement of approximately 200 hours. (U.S. Plant Patent #18750 )
Snow Beauty
In fruit taste tests at Dave Wilson Nursery, the Snow Beauty white-fleshed peach has received the highest scores of any peach. This freestone peach ripens in the 3rd to 4th week of June. In addition to a tantalizing low-acid flavor, the Snow Beauty peach offers large size (2-5/8" to 3-1/4") and full, deep red-over-white skin color. Snow Fall
The latest of the white peaches, Snow Fall is a low-acid freestone that ripens in the 2nd to 3rd week of September. The Snow Fall peach is very large (3" to 3-1/2"), has good flavor and attractive pale white skin with a light red blush. This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 700 to 800 hours. The Snow Fall peach may be subject to moderate harvest drop in some years.(U.S. Plant Patent # 11568)
Snow Fire
The Snow Fire white peach offers excellent firmness in a sweet, low acid freestone. In our own fruit evaluations at Dave Wilson Nursery, the Snow Fire has been observed to hold firm on the tree over two weeks from the first day of maturity. This peach ripens beginning in the 1st week of August with large size (2-7/8" to 3-1/2") and high skin color (90%-95% deep red-over-white). Snow Fire has an estimated chilling requirement of 700 to 800 hours. Due to its firmness, this peach may be susceptible to occasional stem pulling.(U.S. Plant Patent # 9470)
Snow Gem
The Snow Gem freestone peach ripens in the 3rd week of August with firm, low acid white flesh. Snow Gem is a very large fruit (3" to 3-1/2") with attractive skin color (50 – 60% light red blush over white). This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 700 to 800 hours. Snow Giant
The aptly named Snow Giant peach is a remarkable white freestone that averages a colossal 3" to 3-3/4" in size. Ripening in the 1st to 2nd week of August, Snow Giant matures with a sweet, low-acid flavor and pleasant skin coloring (75% to 85% red blush over creamy white). The Snow Giant peach stores and ships well by holding its firmness in cold storage for several weeks. This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 800 to 900 hours.(U.S. Plant Patent # 8085 )
Snow King
The Snow King peach is a favorite in farmers’ markets. This white-fleshed freestone presents well with large size (2-7/8" to 3-1/2"), high color (85% deep red over white) and long-lasting firmness. The Snow King peach ripens from the last week of July into early August with a juicy sub-acid flavor. This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 900 to 1000 hours. Snow King may be susceptible to flesh corking.(U.S. Plant Patent #8415)
Spring Snow
The largest of the May white peaches, Spring Snow is a low-acid white clingstone with very good flavor. This peach ripens from the last week of May to the 1st week of June. The Spring Snow tree is a vigorous grower, and yields large fruit (2-5/8" to 3-1/4") with high color (80% red blush over white). Cold winter temperatures can affect this variety. Sugar Giant
One of the largest white peaches, Sugar Giant ripens from the 1st week of July with exceptional flavor and firmness. Sugar Giant trees are vigorous and productive, showing good resistance to bacterial spot. This freestone demonstrates very large size (2-7/8" to 3-1/2") and good skin color (75% to 85% red blush over white). The Sugar Giant peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 800 to 900 hours. Sugar Lady
Sugar Lady is white-fleshed freestone that is a favorite at fruit stands with a memorable flavor: sweet and mild with no tartness. Beautiful dark red skin protects Sugar Lady’s firm flesh. A very vigorous tree, Sugar Lady matures in mid-July with large average size (2-5/8" to 3-1/4") and high skin color (85% bright red over white). Sugar May
Sugar May is a white-fleshed freestone peach that ripens in mid-June and demonstrates excellent eating qualities. It is very juicy and sweet with a well-balanced flavor that earns high fruit-tasting scores. With medium-to-large size and attractive red skin, Sugar May is an excellent choice for the early season peach market. This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 600 to 700 hours. Summer Sweet
Summer Sweet is a peach that accentuates firmness and flavor. This freestone white-fleshed peach ripens in the 1st to 2nd week of July, yielding a flavor that is very sweet. Summer Sweet features large size (2-7/8" to 3-1/2") and high color (85% red blush over white). This peach has an estimated chilling requirement of 500 to 600 hours. (U.S. Plant Patent #8070)
White Lady
White Lady is one of the best tasting white-fleshed freestones with low acid and a full, rich flavor. It is widely adapted, tolerating fluctuating spring weather conditions. Ripening in the 3rd week of June, White Lady presents well with large size (2-5/8" to 3-1/4") and high skin color (75% to 85% light red blush over white). White Lady has very good storage and shipping qualities. Estimated chilling requirement: 800 to 950 hours.
Yukon King™ (Autumn Snow cultivar)
An exceptionally firm and crisp white peach, Yukon King™ ripens from the 2nd week of August through late August. This low-acid freestone peach shines with large size (2-7/8" to 3-1/2") and full skin color (100% light-red blush over white background).
